Moving Nigeria from Consumption to Production
Nigeria cannot build a strong and sustainable economy by depending heavily on what we import. We must create an economy that produces more, exports more and creates opportunities for Nigerians.
Moving from consumption to production means supporting farmers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, small businesses and innovators with the infrastructure, financing, skills and policies they need to grow.
Our businesses need a predictable environment where electricity, transportation, access to credit and taxation do not become unnecessary obstacles to productivity. Local industries should be encouraged to produce competitively, while Nigerian products should have access to both domestic and international markets.
Young Nigerians must also be equipped with practical and technical skills that enable them to become producers, entrepreneurs and innovators—not merely job seekers.
Production creates jobs. Jobs create income. Strong businesses expand the tax base. Exports bring in foreign exchange. And a productive economy becomes less vulnerable to external shocks.
Nigeria has the people, talent, land and resources to produce much more of what we consume and to compete in global markets.
The goal should be simple: build a productive Nigeria where businesses can thrive, workers can earn, young people can innovate, and Nigerian-made products can proudly compete with the world.
